Did You Know?
At least three U.S. banks have lost millions of dollars after fraudsters gained control of payment applications that control wire transfers. The attacks, which occurred over the last three months, show that hackers are "moving deeper into the banking systems. Hackers have compromised account logins and passwords to execute wire transfers. Money "mules" are recruited to accept the money in their accounts then transfer it again, often overseas where it can be difficult to recover.

Tips & Tactics
Facebook can send you an alert every time someone accesses your account from an unknown computer or other device, enabling you to receive a warning that someone has accessed your account. To get the notification, under Privacy Settings, click the second option in the left hand pane. Click Edit next to login notifications and choose whether you want to receive an email or a text message/push alert. Click on Save Changes. Login notifications are now active.
By The Numbers
According to Halon, a technology leader in email security, 94.7 percent of Americans received at least one email containing a virus, spyware, or malware. About one in eleven (8.8%) opened the attachment and infected their computer. These spam emails bogusly claim to come most often from banking institutions (15.9%), social media sites like Facebook or Twitter (15.2%), and online payment services (12.8%).
